About the Role

As the Director & Sector Lead Diversified Industries, Japan, you will drive the growth and success of our diversified industries sector. Your responsibilities include overseeing product strategies and solutions for a designated client portfolio, developing financial solutions to meet client needs, and driving overall bank revenue/returns while managing credit risk in line with our International Strategy and risk appetite.

What will your day look like?

As the Director & Sector Lead Diversified Industries, Japan, you will:

• Develop and execute strategies for acquiring new customers, identifying new business opportunities with existing customers, and increasing share of wallet through new products and services.
• Originate and execute business with assigned relationships and clients in line with ANZ's Institutional and International strategy.
• Retain profitable existing customers by consistently exceeding customer expectations through superior service.
• Enhance client relationships and deliver comprehensive banking solutions.
• Develop and maintain industry expertise and awareness of key economic trends.
• Review credit memoranda and diary notes to ensure all risks in credit exposures are identified and assessed.
• Mentor and develop other bankers and related roles where appropriate.
• Maintain a well-managed portfolio, ensuring compliance with group standards and regulatory requirements, including the ANZ Code of Conduct & Ethics and the Japan Risk Appetite Statement.

What will you bring?

To excel in this role, you will bring:

• Deep Expertise: Experience across a combination of Diversified sectors such as Transport, Shipping, Logistics, Media and Tech, and Food, Beverage, and Agriculture. Extensive knowledge of key economic, political, and regulatory trends is essential.
• Proven Sales Experience: Strong relationships and origination success within the sector, both domestically and internationally.
• Financial Analysis Skills: Ability to understand complex global businesses, identify the right customers for ANZ, and assess their creditworthiness, demonstrating balanced risk management.
• Account Planning: Conduct detailed account planning collaboratively and effectively, identify cross-sell opportunities, and develop customer strategies/solutions.
• Stakeholder Management: Manage complex discussions with key senior stakeholders, engage in multi-touch client interactions, and excel in negotiation.
• Bilingual Communication: Exceptional skills in both English and Japanese (written and verbal), with the ability to influence and drive change.
• Strategic Thinking: Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills, thriving in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
