About the Role
As a Senior Engineer in Markets Digital Sales Technology you’ll play a key role in helping to provide secure & reliable services underpinned by Markets data, with guarantees such as stability, consistency and integrity. The role requires strong analytical & development skills in ETL tools along with a thorough understanding of and experience in SQL. Specifically, the role requires extensive experience on the S&P Global EDM product (formerly Markit EDM).
You will be involved in end-to-end management of EDM solutions, from coding to deployment through non-prod and guidance to the Support team for finally deploying to production. The Senior Engineer will be a key contributor to the Implementation Plans for these production deployments. The role has a shared responsibility in supporting the 2nd level Support team in resolving technical issues.

What will your day look like?
As a Senior Software Engineer, you are expected to focus on best practice approaches on software engineering and development. You will provide specialist technical expertise, supports design and development of solutions that meet long term business and customer needs. Your resolution should be stable, secure, scalable, extensible and maintainable. Your role includes ensuring that designs are in compliance with architectural standards and guidelines, advising on functional issues and mentoring developers as they work through designing, coding, configuring and testing solutions. You will also:
- Work with operations and architecture groups developing scalable, innovative and supportable solutions.
- Work with the Technology Manager and the squad to ensure the technical design is aligned to the initiative goal and objectives.
- Work on priority development tasks.
- Test your solutions to ensure a high level of confidence in quality and conformance to requirements.
- Manage the deployment of your (in conjunction with the team’s) work throughout non production environments.
- Co-ordinate the in-flight work with the team, in conjunction with priorities set by the Business Analyst and Technical Manager.
- Provide production support as 3rd Level support to the 2nd Level Production Support team.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Extensive ETL experience in the S&P Global EDM product.
- High level SQL skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Experience in Software Lifecycle management, particularly of EDM.
- Experience in supporting production systems.
- Experience in supporting junior developers.
