About the Role

As an Assurance and Well Managed Associate in Commercial Business Governance and Assurance, you’ll play a key role in helping the Non-Financial Risk Team for Diversified and Specialised Industries & ANZ Private. This role is responsible for providing 1st line operational risk management, assurance and well managed support to business segments within the Australia Commercial. The Assurance and Well Managed Associate works closely with the Assurance and Well Managed Lead and stakeholders within the Australia Commercial Division and across the Enterprise to ensure all required obligations and requirements from a financial and well managed perspective are met.

What will your day look like?

As an Assurance and Well Managed Associate, you will:

  • Provide assurance over quality and adequacy of risks, controls, treatments, events, audit items, Change Management etc.

  • Provide reporting and insights, identify trends and make recommendations in relation to how risks are being identified, assessed and treated across the portfolio

  • Partner with businesses to support them in delivering their own risk management accountabilities (e.g. Changes, events, treatments, Control design, risk forums) via provision of input, expertise, coaching and guidance

  • Deliver solutions and advice that are sustainable in design and operation improving risk maturity and embedding

  • Mature risk management ecosystem, including proactively identifying and responding to internal/external influences at a segment level

  • Drive improvement in risk capability/culture/awareness and promote operational risk management as a core capability across all Business Units

  • Stakeholder management: The ability to identify, understand and anticipate the needs of those who can affect or be affected by your work in order to gain commitment

  • Critical Thinking: The ability to use logic and reasoning to analyse, evaluate and synthesize a range of information to understand an opportunity or challenge

  • Communication: The ability to convey and comprehend information effectively in both spoken and written formats.

  • Incident management: The processing and coordination of appropriate and timely responses to incident reports, including channelling requests for help to appropriate functions for resolution, monitoring resolution activity, and keeping clients appraised of progress towards service restoration.

  • Risk and issue management: The ability to identify and assess risks, determine the corrective action required to control or eliminate the risks and effectively manage issues that arise.

  • Risk Management: A logical and pragmatic method of establishing the context, identifying, analysing, evaluating, treating, monitoring, and/or communicating risks associated with an activity, function or process in a way that will enable the organisation to minimise losses and maximise opportunity.

  • Planning and Prioritisation: Planning and prioritising what needs to be done (including people, process and technology implications) in order to deliver upon customer/user needs and strategic priorities. This includes identifying, planning for, tracking and resolving dependencies.

  • Controls design: The ability to specify and designing controls (e.g. a process, device or practice) to prevent, detect or remediate identified risks.

  • Commercial Acumen: The ability to take a big picture view of the organisation, the market, the external and internal pressures and identify actions or strategies to drive efficiency and create long term value.
