About the Role

As a Market Operations Manager, you’ll play a key role in helping to manage the operational support unit relating Market Operations to ensure excellent customer service satisfaction, processing efficiency and effective control of operational risks. 

The role is responsible for increasing operational efficiency, process procedure review, new product development, managing any project responsibilities, providing oversight for operational risk considerations and people management.

What will your day look like?

As a Market Operations Manager, you will:

 

  • Oversight & close control of team activities to ensure the team’s timely processing of Markets MM/FX/Bond/Derivative transactions.

  • Timely & correct verification of Markets MM/FX/Bond/Derivative transactions.

  • Conducting internal checks, particularly where verification responsibility is delegated.

  • Review of applicable daily/monthly/yearly reports.

  • Reconciliation of applicable GL and suspense accounts in line with group standards.

  • Oversight & put close control of team activities to ensure process/ procedural documentation in place.

  • Proactively identifying, monitoring and remediating operational risk events in a timely and effective manner.

  • Participating and leading to strategic project initiatives, ensuring alignment between team deliverables and the bank’s broader objectives.

  • Managing staff performance and development through active coaching, feedback; acting as the primary escalation point for team performance concerns, system outages, and critical exceptions.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • A minimum of ten years of banking experience in the Market Operations sector.

  • Thorough understanding of international banking including familiarity with international payment methods, systems and settlement practices especially Markets various products.

  • Practical knowledge and experience in operating risks and compliance policies and procedures.

  • Good experience in SWIFT and local payments systems

  • Sound knowledge of front/back-office procedures.  

  • Sound Risk & Control mind-sets

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
