About the Role
The role of the Lending Officer – Self Employed is to validate and assess risk through Home Lending Applications that have been prepared by Mortgage Brokers and Direct customers. You are expected to decision applications based on the Bank’s current risk appetite in adherence with organisational policies. This role assesses more complex deals including self-employed applications.
You will actively contribute to the delivery of the Home Lending Assessment service levels through completion of agreed deliverables with the Team Leader.
Role Location: 80 Ann Street, Brisbane QLD 4000; open to locations in New South Wales and Victoria
Role Type: Permanent, Full Time

What will your day look like?
As a Lending Officer – Self Employed, you will achieve measurable performance benchmarks as set by the Home Lending Assessment Department in relation to:
- Customer Service: Deliver high quality service for both internal and external stakeholders. Assess more complex lending applications including self employed.
- Operational Efficiency: Meet the agreed daily deliverables by planning the work day with your leader. Adhere to process changes and responsible lending practices.
- Quality Assurance: Must always meet the Credit Review compliance benchmark of 95% compliance as prescribed by the Bank’s Risk department.
- First Time Execution: Minimise reworks through the quality of data entry being of a high standard, reducing potential error rate.
- Risk Culture: Contribute to the improvement of risk culture through successful completion of risk activities such as, but not limited to, Computer Based Training, Data Quality and logging of incidents.
- People: inspire team members by fostering a learning and development culture, value diversity and inclusiveness and invest in people’s wellbeing. Contribute positively to department activities and events.
- Knowledge share: create meaningful partnerships and knowledge/resource sharing to achieve the best solution and deliver results for our customers and for the Bank.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Demonstrated Banking or Lending experience (preferred)
- Customer Service skills (Face to Face or Call Centre, mandatory)
- Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines (Desirable)
- Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise, together with a high level of attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to effectively resolve conflict.
