About the Role

As a Data Business Analyst in our Financial Crime Compliance PoA, you will play a key role in analysing data and designing solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement, gather and document business requirements and leverage data driven insights to enhance operational effectiveness.

This role requires someone with a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills and a deep understanding of data analytics with the goal of delivering great outcomes for Suncorp Bank’s customers, employees, and leaders.

Role Location: Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne 

Role Type: 12 months fixed term contract / secondment

What will your day look like?

As a Data Business Analyst, you will: 

• Extract, manipulate, and analyse large data sets using SQL and tools like NetReveal; develop and maintain dashboards and reports to support business needs while ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
• Interpret data trends and patterns to provide actionable insights and recommendations; continuously improve data processes to enhance efficiency and business outcomes.
• Act as a liaison between technical teams and business units; collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into data-driven solutions.
• Communicate complex technical information clearly to non-technical audiences; plan and facilitate workshops to gather requirements, align objectives, and present insights.
• Understand Suncorp Bank’s business context, including strategy, systems, and constraints; manage risks, issues, and change requests effectively while staying informed on industry trends and regulations.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:  

• Tertiary qualifications in Business, Data Science, or related fields are desired; certifications such as IIBA, SAFe Agile Practitioner, or other data analytics credentials are advantageous.
• Previous experience as a Business Analyst in business-focused projects (not technical or infrastructure), with proven experience in the banking/financial services sector.
• Proficiency in SQL, Excel, Power BI, and Tableau; strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Skilled in eliciting and defining requirements (e.g., user stories, business rules), ensuring traceability, supporting project delivery across methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid), and contributing to risk and issue management.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate across diverse stakeholder groups, including facilitating workshops and engaging in cross-functional teams.
• Competent in using BA tools (Jira, Confluence, Visio), process modelling/improvement, and familiar with project planning and support throughout the SDLC.
