Mō te tūranga - About the role
As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer in our Technology Funds domain, you’ll play a key role in helping to provide stable customer and banker ready platforms through site reliability engineering practices, while ensuring the enablement of application development to iterate faster through to production. This role is responsible for ensuring agreement of service levels (eg SLIs, SLOs), continuous automation and improvement of the solution to meet these service levels.

Ka aha tō rā e kite ai? - What will your day look like
As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you will be in charge of building and shaping SRE function, as well as building and running the Funds Management platforms for ANZ.
You will apply SRE principles to ensure we monitor and measure what is important, you will automate our platforms and services for reliable operations at scale, including automation of our security and governance controls.
We use many of the latest and greatest open-source tools, so you will need to be comfortable with constantly learning new tools and techniques along with running proof of concept evaluations to keep us on the leading edge.
We will turn to you for suggestions on how to improve the platforms, processes and tools. We expect that you already have great ideas you can share at our cloud guilds & user groups, along with industry Meetups.
Some of the accountabilities include:
- Managing incidents and outages of our service (At times after-hours to support mission critical applications), returning services to operation, and taking short and long term action to improve the stability and availability of services in the future.
- Supporting and improving continuous delivery pipelines including designing and building new pipelines.
- Managing and actioning changes, collaborating with delivery teams
- Building our DevOps and SRE capabilities to support Funds Management Technology and improve ANZ agility
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
- Strong multi-platform operating system knowledge - primarily Microsoft Windows and to a lesser degree Linux/RHEL
- A deep understanding of DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, Infrastructure as Code practises
- Management/configuration of Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) webserver (or similar such as Apache/Nginx)
- Solid understanding of SQL; ability to read/write queries – ideally Microsoft SQL Server flavour (or similar relational databases such as Oracle/PostgreSQL)
- Deep understanding of Active Directory and its core concepts
- Comfortable with automating tasks through scripting – ideally PowerShell, Python, Bash, Groovy (or similar)
- Firm grasp of core networking concepts (IP/MAC/port/route/DNS/TCP/UDP/firewall/load balancer/etc...)
- Good understanding of Public Key Infrastructure/certificate management
- Cloud experience – ideally AWS EC2/RDS (or similar such as GCP/Azure)
- Highly experienced with development SDLC tooling such as IDEs, source control such as Git (or similar), and CI/DC pipelines such as Jenkins, CodeFresh (or similar)
