Mō te tūranga - About the role

 

In this pivotal position, the Senior Analyst Programmer will be at the forefront of developing and delivering essential services for ANZ’s banking systems software at an enterprise scale. The role offers significant flexibility, while also fostering the creation of a robust framework for successful CI/CD practices within the immediate squad. By joining ANZ and engaging with the Payments business units, there is an opportunity to drive meaningful change that adds substantial value to the business and stakeholders, ultimately enhancing the service provided to the wider customer base.

 

As part of the team, the Senior Analyst Programmer will collaborate in bank-wide projects aimed at assessing and refining the operation of applications. This dynamic role is integral to the transformation efforts, ensuring that the applications run efficiently and effectively. The collaborative environment encourages innovation and continuous improvement, making a tangible impact on the organisation's success.

You will be responsible for:

 

  • Contribute to the design and development of systems and applications, ensuring they meet technical and business requirements in line with ANZ’s technical standards.
  • Uphold quality assurance by adhering to technical governance and quality control standards.
  • Provide timely operational support for specific systems, which may include after-hours pager support for production systems, using the Bank's standard change and problem management tools.
  • Ensure the successful implementation of software by following ANZ’s development lifecycle.
  • Use quality control processes diligently and identify, lead, and implement improvements to these processes.
  • Offer guidance and support to peers through code reviews and technical leadership.
  • Mentor small technical teams to design and develop software that meets customer requirements.
  • Provide feedback on other design deliverables to ensure quality and accuracy.

To thrive and succeed in this role, you will bring:

 

  • Extensive experience as a Senior Java Developer, particularly in developing finance-related, customer-centric applications at an enterprise level (Java 8+, Spring Boot).
  • Proven expertise in working with enterprise-scale database systems.
  • Strong background in agile environments.
  • Solid knowledge of CI/CD pipeline automation.
  • Experience working on Unix/Linux platforms.
  • Proficiency with container-based platforms.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Atlassian Suite and experience with GitHub, and Artifactory.
  • Experience with testing methodologies, including unit, acceptance, TDD, and BDD.
  • Experience collaborating with both operations and architecture groups to develop scalable and supportable solutions.
  • Proven experience in API development and integration.
  • Passion for driving change and improvements in development, test automation, and continuous delivery, enhancing software quality, and delivering software faster and more reliably.
  • Team player mentality, comfortable working cross-functionally and mentoring others, with the ability to communicate effectively in both business and technical settings.
